BoardPromise glossary

The terms BoardPromise uses, each defined in one or two sentences.

Five Ts

The five ways people contribute to a mission: Time, Talent, Treasure, Trust, and Thought, always in that order.

Covered

Enough qualified members, including someone who can lead, for a need in a quarter.

Thin

At least one qualified member for a need in a quarter, but not enough to be covered.

Gap

No qualified member for a need in a quarter, and every active member has been rated.

Not assessed

No qualified member yet, and at least one active member has not been rated, so the answer is unknown.

Conditional

A result that is better than the current board only because of a candidate or hypothetical profile.

Onboarding quarter

The first quarter a new profile is present. It holds a seat but counts toward coverage from the next quarter.

Give/get

A board member's approved commitment to give or raise support. Progress counts only recorded receipts, never prospective gifts.
